One of the largest employers in the region has announced it will temporarily halt production in response to the spread of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19)

Yokohama Corporation of North America on Friday said it will suspend production at its West Point plant beginning on Saturday, March 28.

The news comes as the county confirmed its second case of the virus on Thursday.

The Japanese tire manufacturer said the controlled shutdown is expected to last two weeks, but in order to service customers, the plant’s shipping department will maintain normal operations, in addition to other key maintenance-related activities.

The company also says its supply position remains strong, but Yokohama will work closely with dealers to mitigate any unexpected disruptions.
