If the calendar hadn’t changed, the West Point Consolidated School District’s wouldn’t have either.

The West Point Consolidated School District board approved a 2019-2020 calendar Monday night that is virtually identical to the current year except changes forced by the differences in the calendar.

For instance, classes start on Tuesday, Aug. 6, giving parents a long weekend leading into the first day of classes.

Teachers will be professional development from Aug. 1-5.

Fall break and parent conferences are Oct. 14-15 with students out both days and teachers meeting with parents on Oct. 15.

Thanksgiving break is Nov. 25-29 and Christmas break is Dec. 23-Jan. 2 with classes resuming Jan. 7 for students and teachers having professional development Jan. 6.

The Martin Luther King Jr. holiday is Jan. 20 and parent conferences are Feb. 10 with that day being off for students.

March 9-13 is spring break and April 10-13 is the Good Friday-Easter break.

The last day for students is May 21, 2020 and graduation tentatively is set for 7 p.m. that night at MSU.
