West Point man gets 10 years for drug charges, assault

A West Point man was sentenced to 10 years in the Mississippi Department of Corrections (MDOC) Wednesday during the Clay County Circuit Court term.
Kevin Tillman, 31, of West Point, pleaded guilty to a 2012 drug charge, as well as simple assault of a law enforcement officer. According to court documents, he was arrested for the sale of cocaine, and during the arrest Tillman, who is HIV positive, bit a Mississippi Bureau of Narcotics officer, and kicked another.
Tillman received a sentence of eight years for the drug possession charge, with two suspended, and four years for the assault charge. He will spend 10 years in MDOC, and was ordered to pay a $500 fine.
