The West Point Green Wave lost an 11-1 decision to the Starkville Yellow Jackets in five innings Tuesday night, but the highlight came in the fourth inning.

That’s when Jordan Fitzpatrick stepped up to the plate and launched a solo home run that gave the Green Wave their first and only run of the game.

At the time, West Point had closed the Starkville lead to 4-1 before the Jackets put the game away with seven runs in the bottom of the fourth.

The Green Wave had four hits in the game. Along with Fitzpatrick’s homer, Baker Watson, Drew Wright and Carson Taylor had one single each.

Watson and Rhett Ketchum were the pitchers for West Point. Watson struck out five during his three-plus innings of work.
