It is not the position the West Point Green Wave has wanted to start its Region 1-5A play … for the past three seasons. West Point (4-2; 1-1 Region 1-5A) lost to the Oxford Chargers 50-28 on Sept. 25 on the road but rebounded with a 53-16 win over the Clarksdale Wildcats last week at McCallister Field in West Point. Hunting for home-field advantage in postseason and a possible shot at a district title, the Wave squares off against the Center Hill Mustangs (4-2; 2-0 Region 1-5A) at 7 tonight in Olive Branch. Center Hill is tied with Oxford and the Lake Cormorant Gators for first place in Region 1-5A.

In the Mississippi Association of Independent Schools (MAIS), the Hebron Christian Eagles (5-1; 1-0 District 2-A) put their five-game winning streak on the line at 7:30 tonight in Pheba. Hebron tilts against non-district foe Marvell (Ark.) Academy (6-0; 1-0 District 1-A) in a matchup of the elite 8-man football teams. Hebron averages roughly 57 points per game, while Marvell allows eight points per game.

At Oak Hill Academy, the Raiders (5-2; 2-0 District 2-AA) continues district competition against one-win Carroll Academy. The game kicks off at 7 p.m. in West Point. Oak Hill routed the Columbus Christian Rams 48-13 last Friday. Carroll (1-6; 0-1) lost its third straight with a 72-47 decision against Union Christian Academy (La.).
