Supervisors authorize use of a JAG Grant by the CCDS

The Clay County Board of Supervisors met Tuesday morning after observing the Labor Day Holiday.
"We do not have anyone on the agenda today to who wants to address us," President, Luke Lummus, said. "So we will move right along and cover what is on the agenda."

The CCBOS authorized and approved:
Payment to Randy Jones, Flood Plain Coordinator, in the amount of $1,207.20, for the month of August.
The Real and Personal Roll for the year 2020, for Tax Assessor/Collector, Porsha Lee.
Chancery Clerk Amy Berry asked the CCBOS to authorize and approve the following:
The payment of LINK invoices int he amount of $604.50.
To send the TRVWMD a resolution to rescind the Bogue Culley Cleanout Project , Pr No. 13-2005-06.
To spread on the minutes, the Circuit Court order accepting the resignation of Drug Court personel.
To elect as an employer to not allow the deferment of Social Security Withholdings on employees, as allowed under IRS Bulletin Notice 2020-65, in lieu of COVID-19. As even if the CCBOS opted to defer the withholding, it would be taken out of payroll in January 2021. The money has to be paid back at the beginning of the year.
The supervisors agreed and voted to not defer Social Security withholding.
To run the notice for the MS Dept. of Revenue.

The CCBOS authorized and approved the appointment of Bruff Sanders to serve on the GTR LINK Board of Directors for a three year term beginning Oct. 1, 2020.

Clay County Sheriff Eddie Scott asked for the board to approve the purchase of flashlights for the Sheriff's Department.
"We received a $2,600 JAG Grant for equipment," Scott said. "We will use it to purchase two flashlights for each patrol car. These are very nice, heavy duty flashlights and the grant ought to cover it."
The CCBOS authorized and approved the use of the grant.
The board went into executive session to discuss a personnel issue. No action was taken at this time.
The board then recessed until 9 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 10.
