It was nothing short of a good night for an Oak Hill Academy homecoming when the Raiders defeated Rossville Christian Academy Wolves from Tennessee 35-7 on Friday night.

The lone score for the Wolves came from a 3-yard fumble recovery return to go up 7-6 close to the end of the first quarter. That was the only time they led the Raiders.

Oak Hill quarterback Cameron Dill accounted for four of Oak Hill’s five touchdowns with three of them coming from his legs.

“I feel pretty proud of our team,” Dill said. “We didn’t start out the best. We started out kind of flat, but we picked it up about midway through the first quarter, took it from there and went on.”

Oak Hill’s next two scores came within the last 4 minutes of the first half with the first coming from Dill running it in from 14 yards out along with a two-point conversion to go up 14-7. After that, a fumble recovery set up a 34-yard touchdown pass from Dill to Tylar Toler to extend their lead 21-7 at the half.

The last two scores for the Raiders came from a 12-yard run from Dill shortly after the second half began and Jonah Caskey ran it in from a few yards out to seal the deal late in the fourth quarter.

Oak Hill head coach Chris Craven expressed how he felt after his team’s win over Rossville Christian.

“They played like a team,” Craven said. “I think we only had like two penalties so anytime you’re winning the battle on penalties, playing like a team and getting after it on offense and defense, good thing ought to come out of that.

“We did struggle a little bit. We didn’t catch as many passes as I would have wanted us to in the first quarter, but they came together. The defense played a fantastic game coming out with a shutout since that one touchdown wasn’t on them. Hats off to our defensive coordinator Bill Rosenthal and his son Tyler. They do a fantastic job with our defense. They work really hard along with the rest of our coaching staff.”

The Raiders will hit the road to Carrollton to face Carroll Academy next Friday night.
