Strong pitching saw the Oak Hill Academy Raiders win its first district game of the season Tuesday on the road 12-2 over Marshall Academy.

Dylan Scott and Nate Lamkin combined for a one-hitter off the mound in the winning effort against the Patriots.

Scott tossed 60 pitches through four innings, giving up one run, one hit and walking two, while Lamkin threw three hitless innings, allowing one earned run and two walks. Scott finished the game with five strikeouts and Lamkin ended the game with one.

The Raiders jumped out to an early lead scoring two runs in the first inning, then exploded in the third and fourth innings scoring three runs in each frame.

Reiley Tate slapped two extra base hits at the plate for one RBI, with a triple and a double for the Raiders.

Collins Brown contributed with two hits and one RBI. The Daily Times Leader player of the week was also walked three times.

Ethan Bryan went 1-for-2 with a single and a sacrifice fly to lead the team with four RBIs.

Jonah Caskey also finished 1-for-4 and added three stolen bases.

Head coach Mitch Bohon said his team’s depth on the mound added to a strong offensive showing in the convincing win on Tuesday.

“It was a big win for us,” Bohon said. “It was kind of a measuring stick game and we played well, they were supposed to be one of the teams to beat in the conference. Depth wise on the mound we’re deep.”

The Raiders finished with 10 hits and 10 walks on the night, which helped fuel the offensive showing in the victory.

Oak Hill Academy (3-2, 1-0) will take on Marshall Academy at home on Friday for a makeup game.
