Quarterback Cameron Dill threw three touchdown passes on Friday night to lead the Oak Hill Academy Raiders to their first victory of the season 33-14 at Newton Academy.

Oak Hill coach Chris Craven was very proud to see his team respond against a very physical opponent on the road.

“It took a total team effort to beat a very big, strong and physical Newton team,” Craven said. “We are getting better each week at looking, acting, sounding and playing like a football team. Our O-line stepped up and played a physical game.
“Cameron Dill has really progressed with the offense in working the pocket, progression and getting the ball out on time.”

Dill went to work early in the game by finding Collin Coggins for a 15-yard touchdown pass. He also threw scoring strikes of 70 yards and 48 yards to Branden Stevenson.

Jonah Caskey made plays on both sides of the football for the Raiders with a 40-yard interception return for a touchdown and added a 32-yard score later in the game. He had seven carries for 72 yards rushing and had two total interceptions.

Linebacker Jaden Craven had 23 tackles for Oak Hill.

“The defense played a fantastic game bending a little but never breaking, and coming up with big stops when it counted the most,” coach Craven said. “Defensive coordinator Bill Rosenthal does a great job leading and calling our defense.”

The Raiders (1-2) will host Tunica Academy next Friday.
