Mt. Hermon M.B. Church is a Bright Horizons partner with East Side Elementary.

For approximately six years, students from East Side have enjoyed activities with church members in the week leading up to Christmas break.

"The children come and visit with us each year," Deloris Raleigh, church member, said. "The children make ornaments to decorate our tree or around the room in the fellowship hall. They have brought us window decorations, wreaths and other festive decorations."

The students brought hand-made Christmas stockings to decorate the fellowship hall of Mt. Hermon.

Pat Ivey and Robert Smith are both retired teachers who are part of the Bright Horizons partnership project.

"Pat Ivey was a kindergarten teacher for 30 years," Raleigh said. "So she is wonderful with the kindergarten age children."

During the morning’s activities, the children sang Christmas songs with their teacher, Kyetta Richardson — “Jingle Bells” and “Santa Claus is Coming to Town,” to name a few.

The kindergarten students were served a snack before taking the bus back to East Side Elementary.
