McKee files election contest, hearing set for Monday

Floyd McKee has officially moved forward with the filing of an election contest regarding the August 25, run-off election that McKee lost by 8 votes to Joe Chandler, 760 to 752.
The matter has been filed with the Clay County Democratic Executive Committee. Clay County Democratic Party Chairperson Pat Cannon said that the committee was in receipt of the petition and that a hearing would be conducted Monday at 10:30 a.m. at the Clay County Courthouse.
The petition, which was filed Monday, alleges a number of irregularities including what the petition defines as “fraud and willful violations of law.”
