A 41-year-old Clay County man with a history of domestic violence arrests, including one earlier this spring, is back in jail accused of assaulting his wife again.

Zachary Thomas Smith, who lives off Highway 46 in the Montpelier community in northwestern Clay County, was arrested shortly before 8 p.m.

Thursday for aggravated domestic violence after he allegedly choked his wife during an argument at their residence, Clay County Sheriff Eddie Scott said.

She'd moved out and gone to Georgia following an incident earlier this year but returned to him. He's also wanted in Georgia, Scott said.
Smith's bond is set at $10,000.
