Looking around Oak Hill's district: Week Three

Oak Hill Academy struggled to move the football in it’s 27-21 loss to Newton Academy on Friday night, and they’ll head to Strider Academy next Friday before playing their first district game of the season against Winona Christian.
The rest of the district appears to be strong, with a solid showing last Friday night.

Winona Christian Academy

Last Week: The Stars started the season with a loss to French Camp Academy, but were able to rebound on Friday night, dominating Ethel 55-20. Winona moved the football on Ethel all night, and they were able to get into third and manageable situations and convert throughout the contest. Winona’s offense was solid last season, and it appears it’s the case again this year.

This Week: District play starts for the Stars this week as they’ll take on Central Holmes Academy. Central Holmes is new to the district, and it’ll be an interesting test for both teams to begin the district season. The Stars lost many of their players from last year’s team, but they have returners ready to take over those vacated roles.

Carroll Academy

Last Week: After dominating Desoto School in week one, the Rebels had the second week of the season off. Carroll was the three seed in the district last season, and they return a plethora of players from last year’s team, and have the look of a squad will make some noise and get back into the playoffs.
This Week: Carroll will take on Kirk Academy out of Grenada, who is 1-1 on the season. Kirk is a bigger school, and it will give Carroll a test before they enter district play the next week.

Central Holmes Christian

Last Week: The Trojans have had the most impressive start of any team in the district, going 2-0 with wins over Strider Academy in week one and over Deer Creek Academy in week two. Central Holmes struggled last season, only winning two games, but look to be much improved this season.
This week: Central Holmes will look to start the season 3-0 with a win in district play as they’ll take on Winona Christian on Friday night.

Marshall Academy

Last Week: Marshall had an off week in week two, and they lost to Lee Academy 22-7 in the first game of the season.
This Week: Marshall will have another off week this week, but will travel to Kirk Academy in week four before starting district play.
