Lip-sync postponed to Aug. 9

Getting it right takes a little time and practice.

With that in mind, the West Point Police Department has rescheduled its community lip-sync project from 4 p.m. today to Thursday, Aug. 9.

"The videographer who is shooting it for us and who is putting together all the music had some conflicts and we wanted to get it right, wanted it to be professional. So to have more time, we thought it was better to postpone it than to try to force it," Assistant Police Chief Kennedy Meador said.

"We want everyone to keep it on their calendar and be ready. We're even going to be practicing some so we will be better," Meador continued.

Officers and staff are joining the nationwide "lip sync" phenomenon and want the public to participate.

But that chance now will be Aug. 9.

The department will get together to lip-sync four songs -- the theme to the movie "Bad Boys," "In the Air Tonight" by Phil Collins, "Ain't No Stopping Us Now" by McFadden and Whitehead, and "We Are Family" by Sister Sledge.
It's "We Are Family" where police want the community to join in.

"Everyone knows that song so it should be easy for everyone. We want all the people we can," Meador said.
