The Hebron Christian School girls basketball team defeated Newton Academy 46-40 on Tuesday night at the Class 2A, District 2 Tournament at Kemper Academy and will advance to take on Columbus Christian for the district championship tonight.

Elisha Carter led the Lady Eagles with 16 points, while Mattie Grace Parrish also scored in double digits with 11 points. Lindsey Daniels was next in the scoring column with eight points.

“Amber Wedel came back from injury and had a great ball game,” Hebron girls coach Heather Parrish said. “Lindsey Daniels, Julie Moore, Katelyn Hill and Mattie Grace played a great defensive role in our win against them.

“We held their leading scorer to only two points. I’m so grateful to be their coach.”
