Girl Scouts complete Take Action Project

The Girl Scouts of Troop #20117, with leaders, Giovanna Smith and Shana Client, took on a Take Action Project. Leaders gave the girls a list of community projects and allowed them to choose one that appealed to them.
Take Action projects—also called service learning—take community service to the next level. Though the girls still identify areas in which they’d like to help their communities, a Take Action project addresses the root of an issue and creates a lasting effect. Take Action Projects have sustainability.
The girls chose to do something nice for the mother's with new babies at the Women's Pavilion," Smith said. "We want them to understand the joy of giving and doing something nice for other people. Taking on a community project teaches those lessons."
