The Horseshoe Robertson Chapter of the National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution created a display at Brian Public Library in West Point to honor George Washington and Abraham Lincoln.
Both former presidents were born in February. but it was not until 1879, under President Rutherford B. Hayes, that Washington’s birthday became a legal holiday. Additionally, Abraham Lincoln’s birthday is in February, as well, so by calling the holiday “Presidents’ Day,” we can encompass this great president in our celebrations as well.

Check out the Feb. 10 edition for more details.
