Daily Times Lead is pleased to announce the hire of longtime DTL reporter Josh Presley to serve as the new managing editor.
“We are proud to be able to promote from within the organization, especially someone who cares about the West Point community as much as Josh,” Publisher Don Norman said. “During the last two years he has worked tirelessly to get the local news covered as much as possible.”
Presley, 31, of Booneville, has worked as news reporter for Daily Times Leader since March 2014. The son of J.T. and Margaret Presley, he graduated from Booneville High School, and later from the University of Mississippi with a Bachelor of Journalism. While in school, he worked for the award winning Daily Mississippian, and also interned at the New Albany Gazette in the summer of 2012, before graduating from Ole Miss in 2013.
In his two years at Daily Times Leader, Presley covered events ranging from the construction of Yokohama Tire in West Point, to the Howlin’ Wolf Blues Festival, to West Point School District, Oak Hill and Hebron activity, to city and county board meetings, to fires, to trials and crime.
“I’ve seen the best and worst of West Point and Clay County,” Presley said. “There are good people here. There’s progress to be made, and I’d like to believe I can assist in that progress by keeping the public informed.”
