Margaurite Breland has been a member of three different chapters of the National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution in Mississippi. Along with that distinction, she is the oldest DAR member in Mississippi at 101 years of age.

"Margaurite is a treasure," Gaynell Duke, former regent of the Horseshoe Robinson Chapter said. "I would have loved for her to remain with our chapter, but she moved to Columbus to be close to her family. But we loved seeing her at the workshop."

Duke said Breland was a devoted chaplain at Horseshoe Robertson during her time as regent for the chapter.

Laurie Daltroff Triplette, MSSDAR Hills District Director, was very pleased with the Hills District Summer Workshop July 27, held at West Point.

"Our final official registration totaled 140," Triplette said. "We had 136 actually at the workshop breaking 2 records. The Hon. Harmon Robertson, Mayor of West Point, brought greetings from the host town."

Triplette announced the David Reese chapter has invited all Hills District chapters to a U.S. Naturalization Ceremony in Oxford, Friday, Aug. 24. The ceremony for more than 100 new citizens will be held at the Ole Miss Fulton Chapel.
