Bake Sale and Raffle very successful

Betty Carpenter had her little red wagon full of small cakes to sell downtown during the Friends of the Library Bake Sale and Raffle.

It was a sweet deal at the Friends of the Library Bake Sale and Raffle Tuesday at the Bryan Public Library. There were cakes, pies, cookies, candy, breads and all kinds of fresh homemade treats to be had at the Library.

"I took my little red wagon our this morning," Betty Carpenter, member of Friends, said. "I sold out of my little $5 cakes in no time. Everyone is so very supportive of the us in our support of the library."

By the 3 p.m. deadline for the raffle to begin, almost all of the bake sale items were gone.

"I think this is the fastest we've ever come close to selling everything," Carpenter said. "We have a few things left for sale, but not very many. I'm really pleased at home well the bake sale has done."

"We members of Friends of the Library, would like to thank everyone for their support of the Bake Sale and Raffle," said Lucille Armstrong, president of Friends."From those who donated raffle items, those who donated homemade baked goodies, to those who came and brought raffle tickets and came to the bake sale or bought cakes from Betty Carpenter, we cannot thank you enough."

Armstrong said she appreciates all the support the community shows to Friends, be it by attending Luncheon With Books, being part of the bake sale or buying books at the annual Book Sale in September.

"I enjoy the Bake Sale and Raffle and am always humbled by the businesses who are so happy to donate raffle items," Armstrong said. "I really enjoy calling the winners of the raffle. Everyone is always to excited. I love making people happy."
