Students at Church Hill Elementary have spent the month of February learning about the human heart. Tracy Arnett, director of the Wellness Center visited the first grade students Wednesday morning to talk about healthy hearts.
The authors of a book about the lives and experiences of 104 black doctors who volunteered in World War I donated a copy to the Bryan Public Library on Tuesday. The book contained a section about Dr. Thomas Zuber, former West Point physician and Zuber Park namesake.
Those traveling through downtown West Point during the last week may have noticed crews performing work on City Hall. The renovation of the exterior of the building, which had been in the works for more than a year, commenced at the beginning of the month.
As technology advances, the Clay County Sheriff’s Department has worked to keep its law enforcement techniques current and effective.
Sheriff Eddie Scott said that one piece of technology the department has added to its tools during the past year has been body cameras.

The Relay for Life Valentine Bake Sale at North Mississippi Medical Center - West Point has always been a much anticipated fundraiser at the hospital on or around February 14. Since St. Valentines Day is on Sunday this year, the bake sale will take place from 9 a.m.
Friends of the Bryan Public Library are sponsoring the seventh annual Valentine Bake Sale and Raffle, from 10 a.m. - 5 p.m. or until everything is sold, Friday, February 12. The bake sale will be in the Esther Pippen Meeting Room.
The Clay County Soil and Water Conservation District (CCSWCD) is preparing to host its 2016 tree giveaway. The giveaway will be from 8 a.m. until noon, Friday, February 12, in the back parking lot of the U.S.D.A. Service Center in West Point.
