The West Point Police Department is seeing some decrease in crime due to the COVID-19 pandemic, especially at night when the city is under a curfew.

West Point Police Chief Avery Cook reported that his officers had been seeing quiet nights, with less crime than what they normally see.

He also spoke to precautions being taken by the WPPD and the staffing and manning of the department.

“We're seeing about the same, but our call volume has gone down a little bit, especially on the night end,” Cook said.
