West Point man accused of striking victim with beer bottle

A West Point man is in jail after a bar fight resulted in the victim having to get facial reconstruction surgery after being struck in the face with a beer bottle.

Investigators with the Clay County Sheriff’s Office arrested 23-year-old Raheem Johnson on Thursday morning, charging him with one count of aggravated assault.

Clay County Sheriff Eddie Scott told the Daily Times Leader the incident occurred last Saturday night at Club Tootoos in western Clay County.

The victim was transported to Med One in Memphis to receive facial reconstructive surgery. The status of the victim is not clear at this time.

Johnson in currently in the Clay County Detention Center with bond pending. He is scheduled to be arraigned in Clay County Justice Court on Monday, Nov. 13.

Scott said the investigation is ongoing.

If found guilty of aggravated assault, Johnson could face up to 20 years in prison.
