West Point gets a rematch of another region foe tonight, as the Green Wave host Olive Branch for the second time this season. The last time the Conquistadors came to West Point, they conquered nothing, falling behind 34-0 at halftime en route to a 51-7 defeat.

“We can’t turn the ball over, we’re going to have to keep the momentum and create our opportunities by the way we play and not let them dictate those for us,” West Point head coach Chris Chambless said. “We’re going to have to play hard, play fast, and be disciplined.”

West Point’s Chambless knows it is difficult to beat a team twice in the same season, but the Green Wave will attempt to pull off the feat two weeks in a row, after they disposed of Grenada for the second time last Friday.

“It’s the hardest thing to do,” Chambless said. “All the pressure is on us. They’re going to come in here loose, ready to play, and play hard."

Grenada threw some different looks at the Green Wave last week and Chambless said he wouldn’t be surprised if Olive Branch tries to catch them off guard as well.

"They don’t have any pressure on them. All the pressure is on us because everyone expects us to beat them. We’ve just got to be ready for anything they will throw at us,” Chambless said. “We’ve just got to keep the momentum shifted our way.”

Chambless said Marcus Murphy’s leadership came into play last week when the team was struggling early on and needed him to make plays.

“Everybody kind of feeds off Marcus,” Chambless said. “It’s up to him to make those plays and that’s what he did and what he’s always done. Through adversity he is always going to be positive and no matter what goes on during a game, he doesn’t panic, and the players on the field follow that.”

West Point (13-0) and Olive Branch (12-1) will kick off at 7 p.m. tonight, with the winner earning a spot in the 5A state championship game in Oxford next Saturday.
