Wave jamboree features high-powered teams

High school football fans could get an early look at some of this fall's playoff contenders this Friday night as West Point High closes out its spring training football drills with a high-powered jamboree.

Traditional Class 6A powers South Panola and Meridian come to West Point to close out their spring drills.Junior varsity games, featuring 12 minutes on offense and 12 minutes on defense start at 5 p.m. with West Point playing South Panola. At 5:30, West Point JV will square off against Meridian and then at 6, its Meridian vs. South Panola.

At 6:30, the varsities kick off with two regulation quarters for each game.

At 6:30, it's Meridian vs. South Panola, at 7:30, it's the two-time defending 5A state champs Green Wave against South Panola and then at 8:30, West Point takes on Meridian.

Meridian made it to the 6A semifinals last year before losing to eventual state champion Pearl. South Panola, the winner of numerous state titles, lost in the first round to eventual state semi-finalist Madison Central.

Tickets are $5.
