The bottom of the seventh inning saw the West Point High School Green Wave baseball team on the wrong side of theatrics, as the Saltillo Tigers managed to pull out the 2-1 win on a walk-off single.

Both teams benefitted from strong pitching, with Roe Ketchum starting the game for the Green Wave and tossing six innings.

Ketchum would allow three hits and one run on 116 pitches, while striking out seven batters. Of the 116 pitches thrown by Ketchum, 72 were scored as strikes.

The Green Wave got on the board first when Davion Goree singled on a 2-2 count to drive in Xavier Moody.

Goree’s single was the only hit of the game for the Green Wave.

The Tigers would tie the game at one after Ketchum walked in a Tiger baserunner with bases loaded.

Ketchum made it out of a jam in the second and didn’t allow another run until Seth Edwards came on in relief.

The Green Wave (10-11), will host Grenada at home on Friday, April 13 at 7 p.m.
