Clay County Sheriff’s investigators arrested and charged Johnathan O’Brian, 24, and Joseph Bradley Young, 30, with introduction of contraband in a correctional facility.

Clay County Sheriff Eddie Scott said the arrest stemmed from an incident that occurred on July 29 when the two suspects threw what appeared to be methamphetamine into the secured area behind the Clay County Jail.

Scott said during the arrest a small amount of methamphetamine and marijuana was found in the vehicle of the suspects. Investigators recovered the narcotics and charged O’Brian and Young.

Young is being held on a $50,000 bond for introduction of contraband in a correctional facility and possession of methamphetamine. O’Brian is being held on a $50,000 bond for introduction of contraband in a correctional facility.

Scott said contraband, such as drugs, alcohol and cell phones, is a continual problem that all correctional facilities across the nation face on a daily basis.

Scott said the investigation is ongoing and anyone with any information is encouraged to contact CCSD at 494-2896.
