The Summer Reading Program at the Bryan Public Library took a hiatus during the week of Independence Day but is coming back with a bang Tuesday.

Tommy Terrific's Wacky Magic Show is coming back to the Summer Reading Program at the Bryan Public Library, at 2 p.m. Tuesday July 11. Tommy Terrific has not performed his magic show at the SRP since 2013, so everything he does will be fresh and new to his audience.

"I hope everyone had a great holiday," Dawn Richardson, children's librarian said. "We are looking forward to getting the July portion of the SRP started."

Richardson said since kicking off the June with Inky the Clown, she thought it would be a great idea to head into July with Tommy Terrific.

"Tommy has a great magic show that kids of all ages will love," Richardson said. "It's been about four years since Tommy has been with us at the Bryan Public Library. There are many children who have never seen his show."

Richardson invited everyone to come and see Tommy Terrific's Wacky Magic Show and visit the library.

During his last visit, Tommy's Uncle Fumpernutter was supposed to take the stage and perform magic with a little help from Tommy. Uncle Fumpernutter did not make it to the library and Tommy decided to try and entertain the crowd himself. Luckily Tommy had his uncle's magic trunk and does his best after finding the Magician's Handbook in Tommy's uncle's huge trunk full of magical props and equipment.
He and his bird perform magic tricks, funny jokes and are guaranteed to entertain children and adults of all ages.

According to the Tommy Terrific website, for Summer Reading 2017, Tommy Terrific's Wacky Magic will present a new magic show called "Build a Magical World" The show will feature magic tricks representing great architectural structures from around the world, such as the Great Pyramids, the Eiffel Tower, the Great Wall of China, and much more.  With the help of the Magician's Handbook, the kids guide Tommy Terrific through a worldwide, magical adventure where these great structures are explored in fun and interesting ways.  Along the way, the kids will be inspired to explore how they can "Build a Magical World" at their library.

Tommy Diaz grew up in North Little Rock, Arkansas, and moved to New York City after graduating from Northwestern University to pursue an acting career on Broadway.

While in New York he created Tommy Terrific's Wacky Magic show. He returned home to Arkansas with his family in order to raise his son in a more family environment, be close to Nana and Papa and restore a historic home in downtown Little Rock with his wife. Tommy is very proud to bring all the fun and laughter of the Tommy Terrific's Wacky Magic show to Summer Reading Programs, libraries, birthday parties and wherever a little magic and laughter can make children happy.
