Oak Hill Academy overcame miserable conditions Tuesday to shoot 317 on a soggy Old Waverly golf course to edge Madison Central for second place in the Oak Hill-Heritage Academy Classic played over two days at Mossy Oak and Old Waverly.

Oak Hill's two-day total of 626 was 17 strokes behind the 609 posted by Jackson Prep, which followed its first-day-leading 302 with a 307 Tuesday.

Most scores were higher as golfers battled not only wet conditions but stiff winds that gusted to 25 miles per hour and temperatures that hardly got above 50 degrees.

After the first day, Jackson Prep led with a 302, Madison Central was two shots back at 304 and Oak Hill was in third at 309, just ahead of Jackson Academy and Madison Ridgeland Academy, both of which posted 314 on the first day at Mossy Oak.

Madison Central slipped to a 323 Tuesday, while Oak Hill posted a 317 leaving Oak Hill in second with a two-day 626, a shot ahead of Madison Central's 627.

Oak Hill's Cohen Trolio was the third lowest individual with a two-day total of 145, one over par.

Jackson Prep's Sims Abney was the medalist with a 136, eight under par over two days, and Jackson Academy's Jack Gnam was second at 138, six under.

For Oak Hill, Wells Williams had a two-day total of 151 (74, 77), Collins Trolio shot 160 (78, 82), and Nicholas Flannagan carded a 170 (86, 84). Carter Armstrong shot 186 and Jack Easterling had a 200.

Jackson Academy finished fourth with a two-day total of 630 and Madison Ridgeland Academy was fifth at 631.

Heritage Academy had a two-day total of 758.

Tuscaloosa Academy was at 694, Simpson Academy was at 754, Wayne Acdemy was at 790, and Lamar Academy was at 660.

Tupelo High School, which only played Tuesday, had the second low team score of the day at 313, just behind Jackson Prep's 307 and ahead of Jackson Academy's 316, Madison Ridgeland's 317 and Oak Hill's 317.

Oak Hill's next tournament is March 26 hosted by Tuscaloosa Academy at Indian Hills in Tuscaloosa, Ala.
