The winning ways for John Bauer’s Oak Hill Raiders junior high team continued on Saturday as the team won the AA District Championship for the third straight year.

The final win for the Raiders came in a 27-26 victory against the Marshall Academy Patriots.

“We had our ups and downs,” Bauer said. “The first part of the year was a little rough, and getting beat by Marshall was a low point. But we played really good.”

Redemption for the Raiders came on the back of freshman Cohen Trolio, who scored 12 in the winning effort, along with eighth grader Cole Ketchum, who put up 10.

Seventh grader Jake Glusenkamp also stepped up, scoring 6 of the Raiders 27 points.

Bauer praised the effort of his squad, which leaned on its experience down the stretch.

In total, the junior high team for Oak Hill Academy consisted of six ninth graders and just as many eighth graders.

While Bauer lauded the offensive performance of squad, he said defense was a priority going into the district tournament.

“Defense was the biggest thing I tried to instill in those guys,” Bauer said. “I think we accomplished that. If I asked them to get down and play defense, they really responded.”

The district championship is the second title won by Bauer since he took the helm, and the program’s third consecutive title.

The Raiders ultimately finished the season with a 15-7 record.

“Excited for the boys and at the end of the year, had a rough spell in the middle,” Bauer said. “It’s a good time to finish with that district championship and you look forward to what they can accomplish next.”
