Oak Hill Academy head football coach Chris Craven was recently selected to be the head coach for the blue squad in the MAIS annual Blue-White All-Star Game in Jackson on Dec. 1.

Craven said he was surprised to hear he was selected, but was elated by the honor.

“I received a text from Les Triplett, the director of MAIS, saying I had been selected to be the coach of the blue team,” Craven said. “It’s an honor to be selected. I was a little surprised about the head coach part, but it is an honor.”

The three assistant coaches that will make up Craven’s staff are West Memphis head coach Darrow Anderson, Bayou Academy head coach Greg Wallace, and Jackson Academy offensive coordinator Parker Harris.

This is Craven’s second trip to Jackson, with his first coming as an assistant coach in 2015. This is Craven’s 11th season at Oak Hill, his third as head coach.

“Being recognized like this and having the opportunity to represent your school, your team, and your coaching staff, the fans, and everyone involved with Oak Hill football is an honor,” Craven said. “At the same time, it only happened because of them. My players are the only reason it happened and my coaches are the only reason it happened, because without their work, I probably wouldn’t be recognized.”
