The putting green for the Mississippi State University golf facility was dedicated to the late Robert Harrell, Sr. at a ceremony on Saturday. Harrell designed the putting green, which is in the shape of the State of Mississippi, and officials placed a plaque near the green in his honor.
Old Waverly and Mossy Oak Golf Club co-owner George Bryan said Harrell, who died in March 2015, had worked on the green about two years ago.
“He designed the putting green, which we built in 2014,” Bryan said. “It grew all last year and is now in use.”
He said the plaque was constructed by Columbus Marble Works, and that a company in Pennsylvania made the bronze portion.
