BJ McClendon is over the County Volunteer Fire Departments and is an agent at the Clay County MSU Extension Service.

"During the month of February we only had one structure fire and one grass fire," McClendon said. "Even during the winter storms calls were low. Nobody really had to get out in that."

People are doing controlled burns now that the snow and ice have melted. McClendon said there have been winds and warmer temperatures to dry up property.
