Lady Wave fall to Texas team

A big inning dooms West Point as Arlington, Texas High School takes a 15-0 high school softball victory Wednesday in the Gulf Coast Classic I in Gulf Shores, Ala.

The Lady Wave committed eight errors, leading to 13 runs in the third inning to break open what had been a close 2-0 game.

The trouble started with one out and runners at first and third and could possibly have ended the inning without any damage. Instead, two errors allowed three runs to score and opened the flood gates.

Of the 15 runs Arlington scored, just two were earned. Those two came on a first-inning home run.

Sara Dexter took the mound loss for West Point, allowing 10 hits while striking out two and walking two.

West Point got two hits, including a single by Tonia Randle to lead off the game.

Mason Conn produced a one-out single in the third and Randle reached on an error in the inning, but the Lady Green Wave couldn’t push a run across.
