Lady Raiders’ track season comes to a close at State meet

The Oak Hill Academy Lady Raiders track team saw the 2018 track and field season come to a close over the weekend, with several athletes seeing personal bests despite not taking home the MAIS Class AA title.

The field events were held Friday at Jackson Academy, while the running events were held Saturday at Jackson Prep.

Rivers Bryan placed fifth overall in the Class AA high jump with 4’8”.

Carley Wooten finished eighth overall in Class AA in the 800 meter run, with a personal best time of 2:55.

Oak Hill’s 4x800 meter relay finished sixth overall in Class AA, with their best time of the year at 12:08. The 4x800 meter relay team is Kate Wheeler, Sydney Pierce, Carley Wooten and Morgan Dabbs.

The Lady Raiders 4x400 meter relay team - Reagan Freeman, Lexi Pruden, Marybeth Briggs and Julianne Glusenkamp - placed sixth overall with their best time of 4:46.

“It was a great track season,” head coach Mindy Bowman said. “I saw huge improvements from every girl this year. They trained hard and performed well. We are still young and I am extremely excited about next year’s track season.”
