East Mississippi Community College will see a change in leadership, following the resignation of President Thomas Huebner.

EMCC Board President Jimmie Moore told the SDN Huebner had resigned from his position at the EMCC Board meeting Monday night. The search for an interim president will begin next week.

Huebner said the resignation was on good terms, and also said he was named one of the finalists in the Meridian Community College president search. Moore also confirmed EMCC Vice President for Administration Paul Miller was a finalist in the MCC search.

Huebner was named EMCC’s president in May 2015, replacing former EMCC President Rick Young at his retirement.

Under Huebner’s leadership, EMCC saw construction of a new student union building on the Golden Triangle campus, and the beginning of the Communiversity, a new $42 million workforce development facility. Once complete in early 2019, the Communiversity will house the EMCC Center for Manufacturing Technology Excellence (CMTE) and several other programs geared at bringing new industry to the region and supporting existing industry.

Huebner is a Missouri native, and holds degrees from Southwest Baptist University, the University of Georgia and the University of Southern Mississippi.
