The Raiders girls team has become really tough to deal with on defense. Raider head coach John Bauer said that he’s always known defense, and that he has tried to instill a defensive mindset into his girls’ team to help them win games.
1. Mississippi State didn’t look overly impressive in their victory over Miami (Ohio) on Monday, but they won the football game and that’s what matters. It’s a big deal to win when you don’t play at your best, and that’s what the Bulldogs were able to do.
1. Ole Miss lost its biggest recruiting battle since Peyton Manning on Tuesday, as Clinton running back Cam Akers elected to sign with Florida State over the Rebels. There’s a myriad of excuses Ole Miss could use for why they didn’t get the heralded running back, but those aren’t relevant.

The field was wet, and it would rain most of the night, but that didn’t stop West Point from winning its eight state championship as a school and third state title under West Point head coach Chris Chambless.
West Point blew out Lake Cormorant 40-7 behind a dominant defensive performance and an extremely efficient offensive performance from junior running back Marcus Murphy, putting them in the state championship game against Laurel.
1. Mississippi State will play in its seventh consecutive bowl game under Dan Mullen next Monday as they take on Miami (Ohio) in the St. Petersburgh bowl. The Bulldogs’ APR score allowed them to sneak into a bowl game.
West Point announced their 2017 football schedule last week. The Green Wave will continue to play one of the toughest non division schedules throughout the state, while their district schedule was ramped up with the additions of Grenada and Lafayette.
District play is coming soon, and while Saturday’s contest didn’t result in a win, Oak Hill played extremely well against a good Leake Academy team. They cut the lead to four, and gave themselves an opportunity to win the game at the end.
