WPPD investigating drink machine burglary

The West Point Police Department is investigating the burglary of a drink machine on the 400 block on Main Street on Thursday night.

Video surveillance shows two white males tampering with the machine and driving away in a dark colored Jeep.

Clay County unemployment falls in August

The number of unemployed Clay County residents decreased sharply from July to August 2017.

According to the most recent data from the Mississippi Department of Employment Security, the unemployment rate decreased from 9 percent in July 2017 to 6.7 percent in August 2017.

Twisted Burger sets opening date

Twisted Burger’s new West Point location at the corner of the Mossy Oak shopping center will open Sept. 27.

Twister Burger owner J.T. Hurst said the restaurant will be open Monday through Thursday from 11 a.m. until 9 p.m., and Thursday through Saturday from 11 a.m. until 10 p.m.
